Moog Sound Lab
Residency program recording Irish and International artists with Moog equipment
As part of work I was doing for of Science Gallery Dublin's Sound Check exhibition I had the opportunity to work with the Moog Sound Lab UK; a touring collection of Moog synthesizers usually based in the University of Birmingham that the gallery had the opportunity of hosting for the duration of that exhibition.
Over the course of the residency I worked with a variety of artists in helping them create compositions that they were happy with. With the four major residencies culminating in performances, some of which I was also involved with as a performer, these are shown below.
I was also responsible for overseeing a series of shorter residencies which focussed on Irish artists such as Jape, New Jackson, Elaine Mai and many others. Both these and the longer residencies mentioned above were used to create material that will hopefully be used in future compositions, with credit given to the Moog Sound Lab.
A note! Squarespace have stopped my use of iframes and js so the FB videos that were below are now…not. If you want to check them out they are on the Science Gallery’s Facebook Page

For the first time, Moog Sound Lab is here in Ireland, at Science Gallery at Trinity College Dublin, offering unique performances from artists keen to explore the sonic potential that the Moog Lab has to offer. This summer, as part of the SOUNDCHECK exhibition, we've teamed up with the National Concert Hall to host a series of residencies in the Moog Sound Lab at the gallery. Founding member of Chicks on Speed Alex Murray-Leslie is the first artist to play the Moog Sound Lab residency at Science Gallery Dublin. So if, you know, anyone needs someone who can work a large portion of what Moog has made, System 50/55s, Polychained Voyagers and Phatties, Minitaurs, Sub 37s, Moogerfoogers and how to connect them all together, let me know. Or if you just want to let me play with a Space Echo.
